Priority one message from Starfleet! Making his first appearance on Star Trek: The Cruise, Doug Jones, better known to us all as Captain Saru, will join us as we set sail in 2023.
The instantly recognizable Saru can boast not just being the first Kelpian Starfleet officer, but the first of his kind to leave the planet Kaminar. He has specializations in languages, first contact situations, and, most importantly, being a trusted friend to Captain Michael Burnham when she needs it the most.
As an actor, Doug Jones began his career as a contortionist and mime, and has been ubiquitous in pop culture even if you didn’t know it. Yes, he was under the makeup as “Cochise” in Falling Skies and as Abe Sapien in Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy films. He collaborated with the acclaimed director again for the award-winning films Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water.
We caught up with Doug at Mission: Chicago where he told us of his aforementioned talents, and even teased us with the idea of hosting an original game show, a mime class, and the promise of many hugs for Star Trek: The Cruise guests!
We are thrilled he’ll be joining us on Star trek: The Cruise VI, and look forward to him explaining just how he wears those boots during a long day’s shoot.
