A Message From Chase Masterson
August 23, 2024
Chase Masterson is back again onboard Star Trek: The Cruise in 2025! Get ready for an out of this world adventure with Chase and the rest of our star-studded crew. Watch this video and read Chase’s Q&A!
Chase, you’ve been such a fan favorite for years — and a part of every Cruise since the beginning. What’s the most unique aspect for you of the onboard fan interaction?
Thank you, that means a lot. The most unique aspect of doing this amazing Cruise is that everyone onboard knows how welcome and valued they are. It’s dilithium-crystal-clear by the end of the first day that we love them madly, and we have as fantastic a time with them, as they have with us.
It’s also unique in that every year is filled with its own, life-changing experiences, with both old friends — aka fans —and new! I’m always thrilled when I hear which passengers are coming. The entire week of connection and that family feeling we all have — it is my favorite part of the year.
It was so much fun to see and hear Leeta back on Lower Decks — and so effective in the “good cop/bad cop” vibe with Rom. Do you think they ever get away for a real vacation?
Aw, thanks — Lower Decks was big fun to do! And great question. Well, Leeta first professed her love for Rom — unrequited, if you’ll remember — on Risa, so I’m sure we’ve got a romantic trip to the pleasure planet on our bucket list. And you just reminded me, Leeta and Rom never got a honeymoon! They should have it on Star Trek: The Cruise and get their vows renewed.
Your Pop Culture Hero Coalition of anti-bullying activism and education has had such an impact in so many locales. Have you found ways to bring that message to Trek fan events like the Cruise effectively, but still in the vibe?
So truly yes! It’s so joyful, getting to tell fans about the people we are helping — and the difference they make when supporting the Coalition’s work to teach kids IDIC, as a means to end bullying. ECP has been amazing to us in that regard, and we are so grateful. We have wonderful, specific impact stories, and fans love knowing that — together — we are making a world where we can all live long and prosper.
We first met Leeta as a dabo girl, of course. Do you have a favorite or even expert game of chance?
Acting is enough of a game of chance! I’ve never been good at gambling at anything else. But I have always wanted to host a Dabo tournament… OK, who’s in?
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A working actress, always. And a singer and dancer, all of which I trained hard to be. And here we are. That’s why I appreciate every minute.
What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend?
I love to travel more than anything — it ignites my soul. And I’m super excited about these new Cruise destinations…
What goal are you working toward right now?
For the Coalition, we are in the process of completing updates on The Heroic Journey, a set of mental health strategies for children and teens, which includes over 120 videos that I have produced, directed, or both. We have a phenomenal team with top credentials — it’s a world class program, and the goal is to impact countless more lives. We will.
The Coalition goal has been so all-encompassing that I need to refocus on my own. I want to get back to doing musical theatre, there is nothing more fun than singing and dancing. It’s part of why I love the Cruise, the mutual connection with the live audience. Can’t wait.
