As we prepare to celebrate the 10th Anniversary sailing of Star Trek: The Cruise, and the 10th Anniversary of Star Trek: Discovery, we caught up with returning guest Wilson Cruz for a special Q&A reflecting on the impact of the groundbreaking series and what he’s most excited for onboard in 2027.
This will be your 4th voyage on Star Trek: The Cruise; what pro tips do you have for new actors or guests sailing with us for the 1st time in 2027?
PRO-TIP: Since I was on the cruise in the COVID year, you can ask for a hug, this time, and I will ABSOLUTELY DELIVER! Can’t wait!
We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Star Trek: Discovery in 2027; did you realize at the time you were filming the impact that you would still have a full decade later?
Being such a fan of the franchise growing up, I knew that this new Trek would be like nothing we’d ever seen before, including your first Out Gay couple, played by Anthony and myself, followed by Blu and Ian, who played the first Trans and Non-Binary characters and that we’d be welcome in a new generation of viewers and lifelong fans. So, YES, I DID!
If your Star Trek character was on a cruise ship in 2027, where would we most likely find him/her?
I mean… the man is a workaholic! He’d be in the Med Bay on the ship and probably doing informal therapy sessions at the bar!
What are you most looking forward to on the 10th anniversary sailing of Star Trek: The Cruise?
I think I’m most looking forward to being with some of my fellow cast mates again and to celebrate the barrier breaking phenomenon that was and is DISCOVERY!
